What is a Ropes Course?
A ropes course is an experiential training model that asks participants to play, to work with others to solve problems, to think in new ways, and to take discoveries back with them. It involves a series of field games and structured events that serve as a medium for learning. Whether we do a low ropes course at your office or you come to us and participate in a high ropes experience, you’ll find a number of activities that inspire leadership, teamwork, communication, trust, commitment, goal setting and many other life lessons.
Is it appropriate for my staff?
Yes! Even though we ask your team to return to the life of a child for a while, we never forget that they are really adults. While you play, we remain focused on your goals and a positive experience for everyone involved.
Do we have to be in good shape to participate?
No. While you will be participating in some physical activities- which have their own inherent risk- programs are designed so that every person can participate in one way or another, regardless of ability. All we ask is that you come ready and willing to play. Comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes (e.g. sneakers) are a must.
Does it work?
Yes! Since the 1940s groups as diverse as the military, the business sector, government employees and community groups of all types have participated in ropes courses. They remain popular because:
- They are effective. Human behavior- being as consistent as it is- can be observed and corrected much easier in a play setting than in a normal work setting.
- Learning in a non-threatening, safe and interactive setting lasts longer than a lecture.
- Adults don’t play enough but when they do they quickly reconnect to the creative and dynamic inner self that was long ago abandoned.
- The combination of stimulation, relaxation and insight brings people closer together.
- They are fun!
Whether you are just interested in a day of fun or you are ready to focus on something critical like communications, trust, leadership, team skills, creativity or change, rest assured your team is in for a treat. Past experience tells us that participants take the energy from the day back into the office and apply it in all parts of their lives!
