Our association recently hired Joan to do a retreat to help new incoming board members gain an understanding of their role as a board member of a non profit organization, to help these members feel included, and to promote camaraderie and inclusiveness among all board members.

The past year was a particularly contentious one for the board and it was felt there needed to be a way to heal old wounds and create a personal connection among all the board members. Our retreat was a great success.

All those attending felt it was such a worthwhile experience--old board members expressed their wish that this had happened a year ago and that they felt they could interact at a higher level with all the board members now. The new board members felt that they now understood what was expected of them and were more equipped to function as a board member. All expressed the desire that this be a yearly event and that it should be mandatory for all!
